Keeping Listeners Informed & Entertained
To keep our listeners up-to-date and entertained for their morning commute from 6am-10am, they start their day with "Get Up!" Mornings with Erica Campbell with local news, weather, traffic, birthdays, contests and more with Tony & Tre'. You will hear features such as Empowering Moments with Bishop TD Jakes, The All Request Lunch Hour, Praise Party Mega Mix and Another Level. WFMV produces a weekend public affairs program. ‘The Urban Scene’ offers an in-depth look at issues facing the community with weekly guest and regular segments that keep listeners informed about upcoming events.
Each spring for the last 20 years, WFMV presents Family Fest; a day of family and fun. More than 10,000+ listeners attend Columbia’s Finley Park to celebrate gospel music, health initiatives and education. Local Choirs and National artist perform on the Sound Stage. This is the largest African-American outdoor event in the State of South Carolina.
WFMV finds meaningful ways to give back to the community. One of our most successful projects has been the establishment of The Future Leader Scholarship Campaign. Scholarship awards are slated for students who are strong academically, but lack financial resources needed to attend college. WFMV coordinates the partnership of High School Guidance Counselors, Corporate Sponsors, Advertising Supporters and Individual Donors. To date, the fund awarded 103 students more than $166,500 in Scholarship dollars and has raised over $177,000 to support St. Jude during our annual Radiothon.
WFMV set music trends that spread across the country for gospel radio. WFMV was named the 1995 Southeast Music Award Radio Station of the Year, the Stellar Award Station of the Year for 2007 & 2010, and Nominated for the Marconi Award for Religious Radio Station of the Year 2007-2010. Nominated for the Radio and Records Gospel Station of the Year 2007-2010 and Nominated for the 2009 NAB Crystal Award. Articles in R&R, BRE, The State, and Attitudes recognize WFMV as a forerunner in the reemergence of gospel music.
