Outbreaks
The CDC is warning people who have chickens as pets to be careful. There has been an outbreak of salmonella from backyard chickens, where some are giving the disease to heir owners! So far Backyard flocks have resulted in 212 cases of salmonella in 44 states since February, birds with salmonella won’t necessarily look sick, but they carry the bacteria on their feathers, feet and in their droppings. If you have a pet you feel may be at risk to salmonella, wash your hands after touching them or he equipment used to care for them. As well as leaving your shoes for pet care outside.
